NOTE: The following are the most common fan belt sizes used with this water pump. HOWEVER, If your car does not have the original size fan pulley or is a transition year you will need to measure the size you need. Check the belt size needed with this water pump using a string before ordering.

  • 1909-16 cars use a 28" fan belt
  • 1917-19 cars use a 31" fan belt
  • 1919-25 cars use a 32” fan belt
  • 1926-27 cars use a 33-3/4" fan belt

Lang’s Tech Tip:
HOW TO MEASURE FOR A FAN BELT. The only way to accurately measure what fan belt you need is to first adjust the fan bracket so the pulleys are at the point where the fan belt would be it’s smallest. Then put a string around the pulleys and then measure the string. If you measure the outside of the fan belt you get an incorrect size also a metal measuring tape will not give you an accurate size.

Questions and Answers
Does the leakless water pump use the existing bolts that connect it to the motor?

Yes, the leakless waterpump bolts up to the driver side of the motor using the same bolts. It replaces the elbow for the lower water connection.

Do you recommend a thermostat or is it unnecessary?
Our supplier for the water pump found it unnecessary to run it with the thermostat. If you are in a colder climate or plan to run your car in the winter it might be a good idea.
